Virtual Exhibition: Kind

This 23rd edition of the South Ken Kids festival celebrates kindness, fraternity and diversity. It’s the perfect occasion for us to highlight Kind: a picture book all about kindness, written by Alison Green, with a foreword by Axel Scheffler and pictures by 38 kind illustrators. We’re delighted that four Kind artists will be appearing at the festival, too: Axel Scheffler, Sarah McIntyre, Dorothée de Monfreid and Guy Parker-Rees.

Live Event: The Puffin Keeper by Michael Morpurgo and Benji Davies

Masterful storyteller Michael Morpurgo, one of kids and grownups favourite authors, will present his latest book The Puffin Keeper, about a life-changing friendship between a lost puffin and a lonely artist. Joined on stage by world-class illustrator, Benji Davies, they will tell the story in tongue, pen and pencils with an exceptional live drawing session projected onto the big screen. Let the magic begin!

Live Event: Kind by Axel Scheffler and Guests

“Whether it’s the small acts of kindness that brighten our daily lives, or the bigger questions of how we help those in real need, we know that a kinder world is a better world.” Axel Scheffler

A longtime friend of the South Ken Kids Festival, Axel Scheffler invites us to imagine a world where everyone is kind. On the release of the book Kind by Alison Green and featuring artworks donated by 38 international illustrators (including himself), Axel Scheffler will introduce his inspiration and connection with the Three Peas charity which supported this initiative. He will then be joined by artists Dorothée de Monfreid, Guy Parker-Rees and Alison Green, who also contributed to the book, for an inspiring live drawing session on the theme of kindness and refugees.

£1 per printed copy of Kind is donated to Three Peas, a charity which provides vital help to refugees from war-torn countries and for which Axel Scheffler is a patron
