More for Kids

In addition to the South Ken Kids Festival, the Institut français offers year-round activities and resources for kids, families and schools.

Culturethèque

Our digital platform Culturethèque, ran by our qualified librarians, is an online library featuring more than 400 free ebooks, picture books, tales, comic books, magazines and bilingual books for kids to stream. We also offer 200 free audio and video contents recorded during previous events at the Institut français.

Bibliothèque Quentin Blake

Offering hundreds of books and material for children up to 12-year-old, Bibliothèque Quentin Blake takes its name from its patron, Sir Quentin Blake (also patron of the South Ken Kids Festival). Its catalogue includes French language learning tools for all, easy readers & picture books, comics, French cartoons and films on DVD, audiobooks, music and nursery rhymes, video games, and so much more. To borrow items, members can simply browse through the online catalogue and order their fancy thanks to our Click & Collect service.

Kids activities

The Institut français offers a wide range of activities for children and families throughout the year, from film screenings in its in-house cinema to baby rhymes, storytelling sessions and role playing games either onsite or online. From 0 to 12 years old we cover it all!

School activities

We welcome classes on our South Kensington premises and help them discover the best of French culture and language. Come and watch a French film in our cinema, and explore the biggest and most beautiful French library overseas. With our Set French Days, you can immerse your pupils in French culture for a full day with a linguistic or cultural activity and a film screening. You can also book a School Screening only or a French Day à la carte.

Please note that due to Covid-19 some of our programmes and activities might be momentarily stopped. Check opening times and measures on our dedicated pages or by calling our box office at 0208 871 3511.
