Guy Parker-Rees
I like to convey feelings in my work by using a vibrant, bouncing line, strong colours and getting expressions and gestures just right. It’s exciting when it all comes together. You may notice, I LOVE drawing animals. I’ve been lucky to collaborate with some of the best writers of children’s books. I am very proud of the fact that “Giraffes Can’t Dance”, written by Giles Andreae, has become such an international best seller. I’m very excited about our latest collaboration; a wonderful book called ‘Elephant Me’. I also write children’s books, most recently a series of stories about Dylan, the stripy dog and his friends. I live in Brighton with my wife and three children. I do love my job!
For this year’s edition of the South Ken Kids Festival, he is taking part in Live Event: Kind by Axel Scheffler and Guests and will be running virtual workshops with schools as part of our Outreach programme.
