Benji Davies

When he was small, Benji loved stories and he loved to draw. Now he is grown up, he writes and illustrates books for children. Alongside books illustrated for other authors, he is the creator of several much-loved and bestselling picture books including The Storm Whale, Grandad’s Island and Tad, which have all been used by schools to promote visual literacy in the classroom. His books have won many awards, been adapted for the stage and are read the world over in more than forty languages. To illustrate The Puffin Keeper, Benji dug deep into his own childhood memories of holidays spent with his grandparents’ on the Cornish coast – remembering the light, the salty air and the early morning cry of seagulls.
